The paint correction percentage refers to the amount of scratches that are removed during the paint correction process. This is based on the existing condition. For example, if 50% of the paint is covered with swirl marks and we perform a Level 1 Correction (75%), we can expect the surface to be roughly 88% swirl free. Our goal is to get as close to 0% swirls as possible.

This all varies on the existing condition of the paint. An older, poorly washed vehicle will need significantly more time and attention to get a perfect result. We have grouped our processes into 3 levels that each use a different series of polisher, pads and compounds.
A paint correction and ceramic coating are two completely difference services. A paint correction is a process done on the existing paint. A ceramic coating is a protective product that gets applied to the paint. Think of a paint correction as removing paint, and a ceramic coating as adding to the paint.
Paint Correction: This is the over arching term for reviving the paint to its original, virgin paint. Polishing, wetsanding, and buffing are all processes under paint correction
Polishing: This process involves different polishing machines, polishing pads and an abrasive compound to slowly breakdown and remove the clear coat.
Buffing: A generic term for hand wiping a surface to a desired finish. This can be applied to glass, paint, wheels etc. It is frequently used to describe a paint correction process.
Paint correction is quite simple in theory, very difficult in execution. The swirls and scratches you see are actually in just the top layer of paint called the clear coat. By removing the top layer of damaged clear coat, we can effectively remove any defects from the paint.
Unsightly swirls and scratches diminish the color and depth of the paint., but there is no right and wrong time where a paint correction is needed, however that is not the case when asking how often you need a correction. Due to the finite amount of paint on the vehicle, the more we correct the paint, the higher the chance of damaging it. We suggest to do a paint correction only when you are planning on protecting the paint afterwards. We commonly see clients choosing a paint correction prior to Paint Protection Film or Ceramic Coating installation, when purchasing a pre-owned vehicle, or when restoring a vehicle they have owned for a while (usually packaged with a complete interior detail)
It takes years of experience to safely remove that top layer of damaged, stained or scratched paint without burning or removing too much paint. We use a series of polishing machines, compounds, and, when needed, sanding, to safely remove defects from the clear coat. This exposes a new, virgin layer of paint ready for protection!
A high quality paint correction involves a few different aspects. It begins with the proper decontamination of the paint to ensure a perfectly clean surface that won't interfere with the paint correction process. Next, any sensitive areas such as plastic trim, body lines and panel edges are masked off to lower the chance of staining and accidents. Then, an experienced craftsman assesses the condition of the paint. A test panel is performed to indicate the hardness of the paint. The series of polishers, pads, and abrasive compounds is then decided and completed on the rest of the vehicle. Having a wide selection of tools is key to polishing complex body curves, edges and small painted surfaces. Finally, a wash is completed to wash off any compound dust and residue before the ceramic coating, wax, or paint protection film is applied.
